For us dinosaur's that grew up in the 70's and 80's:

Pat Benataur

or

Joan Jett

Tough decision but by the smallest of margins I'd go with Joan Jett (ryhmes with wet)..........

Discuss.. Vote.. Have fun.....

Rockon
Benatar
Benatar, definitely... assuming we're talking music preferences.   Nerd
Benatar on all counts. Kind of a hard comparison as Benatar was much more mainstream, with a lot more money backing her.

Just asking, outside of "I love Rock and Roll", did Jett have any other "hits". I know she had quite a cult following. Jett, if I remember right, was in a band before she went solo. It's wasn't Jail Bait ( although that's exactly what they looked like) but they caused a bit of a stir too. Anybody?

Keep them coming Chuck!

The Runaways w/Lita Ford.
You assume I speak of their music. BWHahahaha....

No, all things considered they were great in their own right and I believe (unless I've missed something) they both have lived pretty good and uneventful but fulfilling lives.

However when all asspects are considered I still give Jett the edge.

OK, I'm officially jealous! Very nice!
man. benatar??????? Jett is a true rocker. Love her. Benatar was good if you like that formula music. Jett took chances Benetar did not. Jett was cutting edge Benetar was not. Sorry but that's the way I feel

Interesting take. No doubt Jett was more of a rocker. On that score ( no pun intended), comparatively speaking, Benatar was a light weight. Would it be ok is I said Benatar was a guilty pleasure?

Funny, I was gigging a lot back in those days and it was a lot easier to find female singers that could pull off Benatar. Pretty much the ones doing the Joan Jett thing , that was all they could do.

In addition, Benatar got a lot more air play, hence her material went over better in the clubs, which in turn, made the bands more marketable. You got to play what people want to hear if you want to work.
I still prefer Jett (rhymes with wet) but I had a chance yesterday to hear Benatar cover "Helter-Skelter". Pretty damn impressive. Surprised me a bit, I always thought of Bentar as a "ho-hum" singer.
Joanie puts on an awesome show.
Once she's onstage you never notice a single year on her
