Well, that was ugly.
If that's who this team really is, we're in for a long season. Fortunately, I believe this team has better days ahead once key players get healthy.
Yes, our offense is bad right now. Really bad, with lots of new people and new moving parts to figure out. But our defense will keep us in games while the offense works to find its identity. Three games does not a season make.
My tolerance for the sports media was exceeded within seconds Monday morning. "The Steelers' season is over! Play the young guys!" And, of course, "Bench Ben!"![[Image: eyes.gif]](http://s675307413.onlinehome.us/images/smilies/eyes.gif)
I acknowledge 2021 Ben isn't as good as 2004-2018 Ben. But even though he's struggling right now (along with the rest of the offense), he's still better than any QB we've had between Bradshaw and rookie Ben. And he's head-and-shoulders above Rudolph and Haskins, who are not starting material nor long-term solutions. Ben is a team leader, and benching him would achieve nothing good.
We've had a really bad couple of weeks. I won't claim to have high hopes right now. But I lived through 1989; Bubby Brister at QB with humiliating losses to Cleveland (51-0) and Cinci (41-10) to open the season. Yet we made the playoffs, beat Glanville's Oilers and were only a John Elway comeback away from the AFC Championship game.
Bright spot of the week? Najee Harris, who was the best player on the field Sunday. Keep the faith, folks; there's a lot of football left.
