I just got done watching Rich Eisen, Marshall Faulk, Kurt Warner, Steve Mariuchi and Michael Irvin... all wringing their hands and talking about "unity" with crocodile tears in their eyes because President Trump said players who kneel for the National Anthem should be fired.
What a joke. The irony is that if anyone on that panel dared to speak in favor of the President, their asses would be off that panel so fast they wouldn't know what hit 'em.
Look, I get it when people don't like Trump. He's a polarizing figure, and intentionally so. But the flag and the National Anthem are representative of the men and women who have served and died protecting this country. There is no excuse to sit. None. Especially by a bunch of overpaid millionaires playing a child's game.
Where was the outrage when Colin Kaepernick was wearing socks with pigs dressed like cops on them?
Hypocrites.
And Rich Eisen... seriously... STFU.
The NFL should be very careful about getting on the wrong side of this. I don't think they understand that lashing out at the President is in reality lashing out at their fan base, not because their fan base is filled with Trump supporters but because what Trump said is exactly what most fans are thinking. The delicate ears of sports media apparently can't take it. Do they ever stop to read the comments on their own message boards?
I will continue to follow the Steelers and I have plans to buy tickets for the Steelers/Lions game in Detroit since tickets are still available and it's a much easier drive than 6 hours each way to Pittsburgh. If the teams behave with respect, I'll purchase my tickets today.
But if I see players sitting and protesting in Detroit or Pittsburgh today? F--- that noise. I won't not spending $500+ on tickets to support that kind of disrespectful bullshit.
Watching closely.
