1979 Oilers 30 at Cowboys 24

The incomparable Earl Campbell bulldozes for 195 yards and 2 TDs on 33 carries en route to a thrilling Houston victory in a Thanksgiving Day shootout, outshining Roger Staubach's impressive 21 of 30 passing performance. Staubach opens the game with a 56-yd TD bomb to Drew Pearson, but Campbell immediately answers with a scintillating 61-yd TD blast down the right sideline. And so it goes, back and forth. A very entertaining game from start to finish and my personal favorite "non-Steelers" game.

ALWAYS very happy when I get to see Dallas, the self-appointed America's team, the team that John Banaczak once called, the "Dallas Cryboys", LOSE!!!!! I didn't hate them as much when Landry coached them. But with JJ owning the team, I really hate them now. BTW, JJ's firing of Landry was when my parents changed from being Cowboy fans to Steeler fans. I guess you could say that JJ did at least one good thing by being a jerk. It got my folks to "wake up". lol

Nice! Laugh

I'm 100% with you on absolutely hating them once Jerry Jones got into the picture. What he did to Tom Landry was disgusting.

Your folks definitely made the right choice.  Thumbsup

As a kid, I held the Landry/Staubach era Cowboys in high regard. I wouldn't exactly say I "liked" them... but I respected them and definitely didn't hate them. I did't like Cliff Harris or Hollywood Henderson. But I admired quite a few players on those teams: Staubach, Dorsett, Pearson(s) (both of them), Too Tall Jones, Harvey Martin. I liked Landry, too.

This was a memorable game. Loved seeing Houston win this, and I loved seeing the great players on both teams play great.
