Bradshaw: Best Bad Weather QB of All Time

Terry Bradshaw is perhaps best known for his great performances in big games. But Bradshaw was also arguably the best bad weather QB in NFL history. In harsh weather conditions where opposing QB couldn't seem to keep their footing, get a grip on the ball or throw on target, Terry was somehow able to drop dimes 50 yards downfield for touchdowns, throw perfect spirals and perform as if it was 65 and sunny.

Simply put, Bradshaw was a bad@$$.  Pi_sharpteeth  Enjoy this video with clips from several bad weather games from the '70s (including two AFC Championships) and judge for yourself.

Terry was great. Miss the way football used to be back then.
Thanks for putting that together.

You know, one thing to take note of is Terry's quick release. He gets props for the incredibly strong arm (one of the strongest in NFL history), his toughness, his ability to perform in the clutch. But you don't really hear people talk about his release that often, and it's one of the truly great parts of his game.

It is lightning fast. It's like *ZIP!!!* the ball is outta there. Doesn't matter if it's a 10-yard throw under pressure, a deep out or a 50-yard bomb... that thing is outta there in the blink of an eye, and there isn't any wasted motion.

Marino remains at the top of the list for quick release... but Bradshaw is definitely up there.

Terry was indeed one-in-a-million QBs. Also, as we discussed before, and watching the games of yesteryear, Terry was a tremendous athlete in his own right. Just watching his drop backs and pocket presence proves this out.

Best “heater” I’ve ever seen. I would love to ask Larry Brown how bruised is hands were after that TD catch in Super Bowl IV. That pass all most caused a sonic boom.

he was a great QB with a terrible TD pass to interception ratio! But I wish we had one like him now

Yes, definitely great. His TD to INT ratio wasn't bad for the era.

A lot of those picks came early in his career. Plus, in those days, if you finished the season with slightly more TDs than INTs in a season, you were in pretty good shape. Very different than now. The higher INT rates (fumbles, too) were just part of the game.

He finished with 212 TDs and 210 INTs. But from '75 - '82, he threw 164 TDs vs 129 INTs, which is damn good for that era. Especially on a team that threw for threat, not high percentage stuff like Minnesota or Cinci.

It's such a shame that Terry blew out his elbow, because he was still getting better as a QB when his career ended.

The original (and best) TB12 will be getting his own reality show September 2020. It is entitled "The Bradshaw Bunch". I'm not sure if it will be good or bad but anytime I see terry on any show I just have to marvel at his personality and persona. Here is a man that is so down to earth and jovial it is as refreshing as they come. I always say this world would be a much better place if more people were like Terry.
