1986 Steelers 45 at Jets 24 - mcmillenandwife - 06-27-2017 1986 Steelers 45 at Jets 24 A nice win from the "Dark Years." The 5-9 Steelers are playing for pride while the Jets (who started the season 10-1) are fighting for their playoff lives and trying to avoid their 4th consecutive loss. After tying the game at 17 early in the 3rd quarter, Ken O'Brien implodes (3 INTs, 1 fumble, 5 sacks) and the Jets collapse as the Steelers pull off a major upset, jamming 28 points into the 4th quarter to turn a 17-17 tie into a laugher. Mark Malone is solid, Walter Abercrombie scores 3 TDs and Lupe Sanchez intercepts 2 passes, returning the second one for a back-breaking 67-yard TD. A bright spot in a very frustrating season. RE: 1986 Steelers 45 at Jets 24 - Guest - 07-12-2017 The 86 team wasn't really that bad. 10 of 16 games were against opponents with a final record of 10- 6 or better and we took Cleveland and Chicago to overtime. The loss to KC at the end was plain stupid. Should have been about 8- 8. Malone was awful early in the year but played with a bad thumb. RE: 1986 Steelers 45 at Jets 24 - thespiritof1976 - 07-14-2017 Gee whiz guys! If you think going 6-10 is a "dark year" try being a Bucs fan during those days, lol... |
