Flashback of Bradshaw. Let Mason do his thing and we shall see if he has what it takes to be our franchise qb.

Very wise decision keeping Rudolph over Dobbs. The rebuild begins.

Edit to add: A new era begins... For better, or worse clearly, the beginning of a new era!

I'm sad yet excited if that makes sense. Hopefully he will be back strong next season.
I've been telling my brother the last couple seasons that Ben has looked off, arm strength wise. Maybe this has been a problem for awhile and just got worse.

Pretty much playing for the future now. Hate, hate to see this happen, may be career ending.

How wise was it now to trade Marcanibus Bryant tot he Raiders for the pick that landed Mason Rudolph. Could be the beginning of a new era.

If it looks as though we won't be making the play-offs I'd start jettisoning the dead wood and play the young folk.

These players would be the 1st to go, in no particular order: Switzer, DuPree, Chickello, Dirty Red.

Then you start thinking about the seasoned vets getting the big $$$: Foster, Pouncey, Haden, etc.

We are 0-2  with fourteen regular season games to go and have not even played a division game yet. Season is far from over.

There is no quit from me as a fan and I hope to heck the team has not thrown in the towel yet either.

Anyone thinks we are going to beat NE in Foxboro in the play-offs is delusional. We couldn't beat them with the killer B's at their house. We may win the North but that's like playing for a participation trophy. Time to see what the young 'ens bring to the table.

I'd start by cutting Moncrieff and Switzer today and re-sign Eli and bring up a WR from the PS. Chickello is in a walking boot so I think Ola will soon get some snaps. It's a crying shame we lost Skipper. DuPree is a 5-year bust and although I gave Edmunds the benefit of the doubt he is also starting to look like a bustolo.

I'm not sure if this is true, but I read the last 7 Steeler 31 draft picks have been defense. If this is the case Colbert needs sent packing. I think the last #1 defensive picked that panned out was Shazier.

I guess after the way new England played these first two games, all the NFL should crown them champions now and call the season done.  Confused

You make absolutely no sense. Maybe if it was week fourteen and we were 2-12 but for crying out loud it is only week TWO.

Just facing the facts. Before yesterday I thought there were 2 or possibly 3 teams that could stay on the field with the Cheatriots**.

Depending on the injury to Brees, I think the Chiefs and the Rams right now are the only 2 I see even with the remotest of possibilities to beat them.

Update on Chickello:

If he does, in fact, have plantar fasciitis, not only could the special teams vet miss multiple weeks, he could land on IR. A tear of the fascia along the bottom of the foot is the type of injury that can linger.

No word on Connor yet, may have an MRI done today.

Even with Ben not playing the rest of this year, this is still his team until he officially retires or is let go. That means no rebuild; everything stays the same (at least in a big-picture sense) except that Mason's under center.

Especially, that means no changes in the offensive line. Not only do you want Mason protected by people who have been in the league for a while, which makes Pouncey in particular more important than ever, but if you let Pouncey go even a healthy Ben retires or asks to be traded. That may not be a bad thing if Mason wins double-digit games, but if they struggle through to 6-10 or 7-9 and would have to trade a big part of their draft to get a quarterback, we're looking at a rebuild that would take longer than the four-year standard rookie contract, which makes drafting a franchise guy a waste of time and resources. Why draft a quarterback number one just to hope to get to 8-8 or slightly above? How is that working out in Nashville with Marcus Mariota or Tampa with Jameis Winston?

As for this year, I'd be an idiot to predict a Super Bowl appearance, but another winning season (yes, Tomlin haters, we're back to THAT again) doesn't seem too far out of reach if we somehow manage to get the defensive issues that seem to be everywhere properly cleaned up. 9-5 over the final fourteen games would allow the Steelers to see what their future would look like with Mason. If they want to go back to Ben and see what he can still do after a year off, they can trade Mason for picks should they feel the need and elevate Hodges. If they decide that they want to keep things going with Mason, they can begin to properly build around his strengths. Ben can either stick around as a backup (highly unlikely) or go to a team that needs a short-term fix at quarterback to get to the playoffs.

One thing they most assuredly WON'T be doing (to the disappointment of many) is writing off this season and trying for a high draft pick. They may end up with one if Mason struggles, but they aren't going to make sure they get one by whatever means may be at their disposal. They'll be in there trying for that "participation trophy" just as hard as they possibly can.

It's Tomlin's team and his supporters and he now have the chance to prove their point, ie he's a quality coach capable of competing without a HOF QB. The Steelers have now, in 2 seasons, lost all 3 killer B's. Considering that I'm not sure Tomlin can or will get it done.

I believe he's 2-6 over the last 8 games. Hardly the trend line that should provide confidence or offer solace to the fan base. For the sake of my family and friends in the Burgh I hope the boy gets it done.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you either didn't know or forgot that calling a black man "boy" is about as racist a statement as you can possibly make, whether you meant it as one or not. If you said it knowing what it means, Tim should ban you immediately without further discussion. There's no place for that kind of crap, period.

Seems like there is no desire on the steelers roster. Tj is hungry but the last bit of any fire we had left when Deebo was released.

Sure seems to be a lack of competitiveness on this team.  they're just flat.  Maybe with Rudolph starting they'll get some fire in the belly and the boys will play better.  We'll see.

I'm a 73 year old caucasian male and I've been called boy more times than I can count over the last 20 years. By persons of more than one race. I live in South Carolina. For those of you who don't or have never lived in the South you should understand calling someone a boy is not an absolute slight.

I feel liberals are just too sensitive about words in our society. Political correctness never made anyone a dime nor has it raised the standard of any person, place or thing. For humans, words are or should be tertiary vs what a person can or cannot contribute to society.

I'm offended, not really but I'll play the game, by someone calling me a racist because I used a word or term. Especially someone who does not know me from Adam. But it's OK. I've learned to ignore ignorance and live by the old adage that sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me. I'd hope most adults should appreciate that.

People are to offended to easily these days. I have a cousin who is black and he calls me cracker all the time. I know what he has in his heart and we both laugh when we talk about racism. Racism is nothing compared to Racism say fifty or hundred years ago.

Sandfan,

This is one adult who doesn't appreciate you or your racist, ignorant mouth. I especially don't appreciate you using your age and where you're from as an attempt to disguise your racism and ignorance.

Tim, do your job as a responsible board administrator and ban this racist and all those who publically defend him IMMEDIATELY. There's no place for this crap on what's supposed to be an inclusive, friendly board.

Give it up with the racism card. The only proven true racist here is A-B and you conveniently give him a pass.

Give it up.

Stand down, you're making a fool of yourself. Sandfan is a better man than you'll ever dream to be. Probably when he was your age he already had his first million made, not living in his parent's basement. Yes, I know all about you, I checked out your Facebook page. Eerily the same. Cowher and a rookie named Ben or something replaced a veteran gunslinger named Tommy ran the table for the season, a perfect 13-0.

We'll see what Tomlin can do.

Tell that to the GG man. He lives to stir this site up. Other than him we're all pretty much a band of brothers in here. I've been here since 1998.

Tim, do your job as a responsible board administrator and ban this racist and all those who publically defend him IMMEDIATELY. There's no place for this crap on what's supposed to be an inclusive, friendly board.

Stand down, you're making a fool of yourself. Sandfan is a better man than you'll ever dream to be. Probably when he was your age he already had his first million made, not living in his parent's basement. Yes, I know all about you, I checked out your Facebook page. Now, back down the stairs you go to your keyboard.

By the way, my neighbor (retired Sheriff, Orange Cty.) calls me boy every time I see him. I don't get offended, I wear it as a badge of honor.
We all should try and get a long. This sucks Steeler Nation we all bleed black and gold.
Tell that to the GG man. He lives to stir this site up. Other than him we're all pretty much a band of brothers in here. I've been here since 1998.

Just saying we all are running the same race. The human race i love you no matter the color. I do not thing anyone on here is racist, maybe uninformed yes, but not racist. Respect to all on the board. Love posting about the steelers.
Are you the Preston from Akron, Ohio? Barber I think?
