1994 AFC Championship Steelers 13 vs Chargers 17

Infamous "Three More Yards" game. In spite of Pittsburgh's complete dominance (415 yards to 226), the Steelers blow a 13-3 lead as San Diego hits two big plays and then stops the Steelers on 4th and goal at the 3 to win the game. One of the biggest heartbreakers in Steelers history. This one still gives me nightmares...

I understand completely. I still have bad feelings about the 1999 NFC CG with the Bert Emanuel "non catch", etc...

Hey, look at it this way - the Steelers didn't blow a 28-3 lead in the SB, lol...

I would NOT want to be a Falcons fan.

I love and appreciate all the games you post Tim! But this won't be one I watch!!!!  To this day the words Pupunu, Martin, and Gibson make me sick!

Also-did we call that play to foster once in the whole season?  Nope-not until the most important play of the year. Ugh.  serenity now!!

The Falcons will forever be a steaming, smelly stain in the annals of Super Bowl history. Worthy of ZERO respect.

I gave Tim my tape simply to stop me from watching it.

My last game in TRS. Was like leaving a funeral. No one said anything going down those escalators in the 600 level.

That Bert Emanuel play was the right call, it's the rule that sucked.

And what's even more laughable now, is the have made the rules for catching a football WORSE now.

This is correct.  That was the first time they ran the PLAY all season, confirmed by Ron Erhardt days after the game.

I couldn't believe it when he said it.

Laugh  Yeah, I can't watch it, either. I'll admit I've watched the last drive a couple of times. Ruined my week both times.  Ohwell

Yeah, I agree. The officials hands were tied on that one, IMO.

When they started to review it I knew it would be overturned, even though John Madden thought it was a clear catch I knew it wasn't.

This entire "what makes a catch" is really ridiculous sometimes. That said, the "Fail Mary" in Seattle ? Yeah, that was BS. Those replacement refs were intimidated by that crowd.

Neil O'Donnell gets lots of shit from Steeler fans but the guy played his ass off in this game driving the offense down the field to get them in position for that final play to Foster.
The two huge defenses lapses in this game, by two veteran players nonetheless in Carnell Lake and Tim McKyer, lost this game for them.
No excuses.

I also noticed that Myron Bell and not Darren Perry was the safety on that Tony Martin play which could have made a difference.
It looked like the Steelers defense was in 3-3-5 formation, with Carnell Lake the SS and he had the underneath coverage on Martin which meant that the Steelers were probably in cover-3 and all Tim McKyer had to do was play Martin deep and not let Martin get behind him which...............of course he did.
Rod Woodson looked he was the nickel-back in that formation, not real sure that was real smart to not put Woodson out on Martin.

When J.L Williams caught that O'Donnell pass out of the backfield and ran it in the for the TD, I was so damn sure that we were gonna win this game and that this game against the Chargers would just be a continuation of the previous week against the Browns.
Gotta give the Chargers defense credit, they hung tough and kept the score fairly close, Seau was all over the gdamn field in this game, he was a monster.
It sucked so bad to have tenured vets on defense let us down.
Carnell Lake on the Pupunu td pass and McKyer on the Tony Martin td pass.
