Do you think he will succeed as most players haven't after leaving the Steelers? Or is he dead on going to be a great player with other teams?
I'm curious to see what happens next. I just hope he doesn't come to our division. Do the Browns have cap room to dump stupid cash on Bell? Oh wait, I think their still paying off Tim couch and Lady Quinn... What's your take on Bell? Will he be elite with other teams? |

Kneel O'Dollar. Yancey Thigpen. Le'Veon Bell. He's a young man who doesn't understand the true long-term benefits of taking a "little" less money per year to stay with the Steelers. He was offered a ridiculous sum of money. It wasn't ike the Steelers were low-balling him as they have some players in the past. I hope he helps us win a Super Bowl this year... and then ends up in Vegas next year. |

This really shows his lack of intelligence or bad advice he's receiving from his agent. The Steelers offered him a tremendous contract with $33 million guaranteed. He won't sniff that in FA. Plus he gambling with a down year or possible injury. Not too smart.
The Browns won't want him, they already have a fine stable of RBs. I'd be more concerned with the Bengals or rats. However, it's going to be hard for any team to pony up that kind of money for a RB with a ton of mileage on his legs. Next - Minkah, #39! ![]() |

Rod is one of the few that made it after he left the Steelers, more of an exception than the rule. Maybe Hardy Nickerson and Chad Brown as well.
The biggest difference I see is that the players that left weren't given the contract and opportunity that Bell received. The Steelers ponied up big time and he is either too stupid to realize it or getting bad info from his agent. Maybe both. I read an article from his agent and he seemed to blast the Steelers F.O. I can't wait and see what Bell signs for next year. I'm think it will be about 50 to 75% (at best) of what the Steelers offered. Time will tell. Next - Minkah, #39! ![]() |

Not sure if they can rescind the tag now, but JuJu just released a statement that doesn't sit well with me. This has/ is already becoming a distraction. If league rules permit I'd rescind the offer and send Bell on his merry way before this submarines the entire season.

I'd try to sign him and have a trade worked out ahead of time. I really don't care where he might land. He is a great player but a truly great player is not a distraction. I'll take the draft choice risk or risks and keep the cap flexibility for moves down the road.

What are the chances of Bell not receiving more or the same of what the Steelers offered? Any chance he signs back with the Steelers after the season? Maybe a small chance?

I'll be interested to see if there's a team out there that will pay him what he thinks he's worth when he becomes a free agent next year. I'm guessing he'll have to take much less than what his franchise tag value would be next year and very possibly lower than this year's and last year's franchise numbers.

Maybe a small chance? He'll be lucky to get half of what the Steelers offered (IMHO). The Steelers stepped up big time (he was offered nearly double of the highest paid RB now) and Bell declined. Keep in mind he was a workhorse at MSU, has had a ton of carries already in the NFL, has had 2 knee surgeries, and also a suspension or 2. Bell is 26 or so and I think his skills are already on decline. His longest run last year was approximately 27 yards. The RB position can be filled a bit easier than most other positions. If you have a decent o-line they will run. At this point in time I think I'd be more upset is they signed him long term. We have (3) RBs on the roster now that I'd like to get a look at. Bell was guaranteed $16.5 million for each of the first 2 seasons ($33 million). He wanted $34 million. First, can you reasonably know the difference between $33 million and $34 million over 2 years? He'll now make considerably less, meaning he will need a contract of approximately $19 million next year just to keep up to what he was already offered. Not going to happen. Bell has already lost money he'll never recoup. He would need a team to sign him for $20/ 3 years just to beat what the Steelers put on the table.
Not too smart. Next - Minkah, #39! ![]() |

Football is a team sport
Bell is the consummate individual. |

I simply wanted to point out that Woodson should have been signed by Pittsburgh and was allowed to walk. For as great as the Steelers have been over the years they have misses on evaluating players as well. We handed Baltimore a Pro Bowl player to complete that D. I also don't think they should sign Bell. It will be interesting to see which idiot owner ponies up the money he wants because someone will. |

I think Woodson played briefly with the 49ers before he went to Baltimore. He was at Oakland for a while as well. He went into the hall as a Steeler.
I agree, I wish he had stayed, he's my 2nd favorite Steeler of all-time, right after Jack Lambert. Next - Minkah, #39! ![]() |
