You're down five, you've just scored, and you need a touchdown to win. Less than two minutes to go, and you have all three timeouts left. Which means that if they get one first down, you're dead.

Your defense has given up not 10 points, not 20 points, not 30 points, but 42 points on the day. Aside from forcing a safety on the second play of a drive in the fourth quarter, you've forced one three and out all day long.

What do you do?

A. Kick the onside kick.
B. Kick long and hope for a stop.

How was this even a question? As low as the odds were for an onside kick, the odds of them stopping the Chiefs in three plays had to be worse.

To me, kicking long was a fireable offense by Tomlin.

The only two bright sides of the day: Jacksonville kicked New England's butt.
And we are not the Cleveland Browns.
