1980 Steelers 13 at Bills 28
This was an incredibly shocking loss to me as a kid. Fresh off a HUGE win over Cleveland, I fully expected the Steelers to absolutely take apart the Buffalo Bills, in spite of the fact that the Bills came into the game with an impressive 8-3 record. It was Pittsburgh vs. Buffalo, after all. Instead, the Bills run roughshod over the depleted Steelers by piling up 178 rushing yards (110 for Joe Cribbs on 24 carries) and totally dominating the second half. The loss drops the Steelers to 7-5, and worst of all, puts them a game behind the Oilers and Browns with a monster matchup in Houston looming on the horizon. This recording is a merge with the radio broadcast and features Buffalo Bills radio announcer Van Miller on the call. |

Just so everyone knows, that's Buffalo Bills radio announcer Van Miller on the call. There's a version of this game out there with NBC announcers Don Criqui and John Brodie, but this version is a merge between the NBC video and the Bills radio broadcast.

I had no idea. I could tell it was a local broadcasting crew, but I never really made the connection that the audio was from the radio broadcast. Makes sense! |

Mistakes really hurt Pittsburgh here. I couldn't believe it in the first quarter, up 7-0 and with the ball first and ten on the Buffalo 47, the Steelers procede to fumble a snap, have an offsides penalty, and a sack. Completely wasted a chance to really get on top of Buffalo early, 14-0 or at least 10-0.
