Once again the laziest front office in football doesn't protect their #1 running back.

He's just been ruled out for the Raider game. They activated Trey Edmunds (RB, Edmunds brother) from the practice squad.

I've said all along we should have brought in a veteran RB after it was apparent Leaving'On Bell wasn't going to return.

High ankles sprains tend to linger, wouldn't surprise me if Connor has played his last down this season.

Steeler promote Trey Edmunds

The Steelers have signed running back Trey Edmunds to the 53-man roster on Tuesday, giving the team depth at the position. James Conner left the Chargers game with what Coach Mike Tomlin referred to as a lower leg contusion postgame. The team also has rookie Jaylen Samuels and veteran Stevan Ridley at running back.

Edmunds, whose younger brother Terrell Edmunds was the team’s No. 1 draft pick this year, was on the practice squad since the start of the regular season.

Edmunds was originally signed by the New Orleans Saints in 2017 as an undrafted rookie free agent from Maryland. He had nine carries for 48 yards and a touchdown in 16 regular season games. He added three kickoff returns for 65 yards.

In a related move to make room on the roster the team placed wide receiver Justin Hunter on the reserve/injured list after he left Sunday’s game against the Chargers injured.

The team also signed linebacker Matthew Thomas to the practice squad. Thomas was waived last week when Ola Adeniyi was signed to the active roster. Thomas, who originally signed with the Steelers as an undrafted rookie free agent from Florida State this year, played in 10 games this season. To make room for him on the practice squad the team released linebacker Farrington Huguenin.

I'm sure a certain former Steeler back is celebrating. The question is, does is really matter? It already seems like the Steelers had totally abandoned their running game for no discernible reason. And quite frankly, I don't care who they attempted to pick up in free agency. I strongly doubt they'd do any better than anyone on the roster.

I've liked what I've seen of Jaylen Samuels so far. Admittedly, he's seen limited action. And I've seen him be very clearly lost more than once pre-snap in that limited play. It will be interesting to see how he does in an increased role.

Tomlin planning RB by committee against the Raiders. This has peaked my interest, curious how this works out. Also Steelers signed Ralph Webb (RB, off the Patriots PS). My concern is one of the backs fail to pick up a blitz and Ben gets hurt. He's a tough SOB though.

I said a while ago they needed to bring in CJ Anderson for a look.

Now he's playing against us on Sunday the Raiders signed him yesterday.

Colbert is a lazy has-been riding on the success Ben brought this team.

If Rudolph doesn't pan out when Ben retires? We're screwed for YEARS.

I've been calling for them to either kick the tires on Anderson or Charles. They signed a RB from the Patriots PS yesterday that has a whopping 9 carries.

My fear is the inexperienced RBs will miss a blitz pick-up and get our QB hurt.

Indeed they are lazy bastards.

I will admit, I didn't think C.J. Anderson had nothing to offer. Clearly, I was wrong.
