Rather than fawning over someone’s offensive genius or playing Six Degrees of Sean McVay, let’s go ahead and call what’s going on in the NFL for what it really is. Over the last two weeks, we’ve seen certain coaches get jobs and interviews while others are given a once-over – maybe – and told better luck next time.
The only difference being the color of their skin.
How else to explain someone like Kliff Kingsbury, whose NFL experience is limited to carrying a clipboard a decade ago, being hired as the Arizona Cardinals’ head coach? Six weeks after he was fired at Texas Tech, no less. Or Adam Gase getting snapped up by the New York Jets after his sterling, sub-.500 record with the Miami Dolphins? Or Josh McDaniels getting calls after leaving the Indianapolis Colts in the lurch a year ago?
Or McVay already having a coaching tree after two seasons with the Los Angeles Rams while Anthony Lynn, whose job with the crosstown Chargers over the same span is equally impressive, not even having a shrub?

Knew this was coming. So sick of our society

Knew this was coming. So sick of our society

I'm rather sick of it myself - but I decided to embrace it. It's made life so much easier.

My kid accidentally spilled 4 drops of milk from his cereal bowl today - immediately I knew it was racism.
When I went to put my running shoes on this morning, one lace had a knot in it - a clear indication of racism.
On my run, one of my neighbors - someone I thought was friendly, had the unmitigated nerve to wave and say, "good morning" - obviously racism
When I had my multi-grain Cheerios, I notice the ratio of oat rings compared to the rice-based rings were a little askew: racism.
At the bird feeder outside my window, I saw several white-winged doves crowding out a bluejay. I decided to set fire to the tree: I will not allow avian racism in my back yard....

Life is so clear now.

Some people see race issues at every turn. Some do not. I happen to think the race card has been and continues to be overplayed.

Tomlin came into his position with assistance from the Rooney rule. Race played a part in his hire. That's a fact we cannot ignore. I don't care about it, however.

My only concern is he has not guided the team, except early in his tenure, to Lombardi levels of performance.

I believe Brady is a better qb than Ben. However, both will be in the HOF and will rank within the top 5 in stats at their position. The rest of the teams the Pats have trotted out onto the field have not been staffed with as many great players as Tomlin has had at his disposal. That's my view anyway. Ergo, I believe Tomlin has under performed, continues to under perform and will likely do so into the future.

His race has nothing to do with his performance. His talent as a supposed "player's coach" speaks volumes along that line. That supposed attribute has likely created the circus like atmosphere we see today. One that seems to be in the process of denigrating a once great franchise.

The standard used to be the next Lombardi. Now it seems to be not having a losing season. We have been losing and continue to lose the championship race. How sad is that!
