Kinda looking forward to more football in the offseason. Should be interesting. Hines Ward is a part of this league.

Would be cool if Nfl teams allowed their practice squad players and backups who didn't see play time during regular season participate in this league without being poached by other NFL teams. Mason Rudolph could benefit from this. IMO

I'm guessing no one here has been watching. First week looked like the teams only had 6 weeks of practice but this past weekend looked much better with some really good competitive games.
I've seen a lot of players that should get NFL invites next training camp.

Love everything about this league.

I haven't been watching yet, but my son sent me a vid with a pretty vicious QB hit. Looks like old-school football.

That hit didn't even draw a penalty like it would have in the NFL. Woulda made Lambert proud.  Pi_wink1

Like the different rules the league has also.

Quote:- Games will start without kickoffs as a nod to player safety. There will be a coin toss, with the winner deciding whether to receive or defer. The team that gets the ball will send out its offense to start from its 25.

- The AAF's play clock will be 35 seconds, which is five seconds shorter than the NFL's.
- There are no television timeouts during games and fewer commercials to reduce overall game time to roughly 150 minutes instead of 180 minutes in the NFL.
- Overtime will allow both teams to have the ball once, first-and-goal from the 10. Teams have to score a touchdown and go for two points while field goals are not allowed. Games can end in a tie after the overtime period.
- Onside kicks are not a part of The Alliance and instead "onside conversions" will be a new addition. If a team is trailing by 17 points or more inside of five minutes remaining in a game, they must convert a fourth-and-12 from their 28 in order to keep the ball.
- On defense, no more than five players may rush on passing plays. No defensive player may rush from a position of more than two yards outside the widest offensive lineman and more than five yards from the line of scrimmage. The exceptions would be play-action or run-pass option plays and if the ball leaves the tackle box.
There will be a 15-yard penalty for "illegal defense."

In addition to the new rules in place by the AAF, the league will introduce a "sky judge" to the officiating crew. This sky judge will be in the press box and his job will be to catch "officiating errors" in an attempt to correct them immediately on the field.

How can the sky judge do this? He will be using technology to correct any errors that involve player safety during a game and pass interference within five minutes left in the fourth quarter. The benefit of the sky judge is the league doesn't have to go to replay.

I've watched it.

They do hit more in this league.

But ratings were down in week 2 and rumors are if they don't improve and the NFL doesn't kick in any money for operating expenses the league may not finish season 1.

If the WWE stops the hokey bullshit they had the first time and really focus on good football? They could make the NFL get nervous.

Tommy Maddox did say the ONE thing Vince McMahon did right was they treated the players well as far as travel and hotels.

Give someone who has enough money to pull off a summer league? Players would jump IMO.

The USFL had a good thing going until Trump fucked that up too.

I'm not so sure Trump fucked that up. He beat the NFL in the court system, right? He was awarded a dollar (sounds like Nancy Pelosi). He wanted to go head-to-head with the NFL.
