By releasing Green, the Steelers will clear $2.6 million in cap room because of the failed physical designation....Green’s signing cost the team $6 million, his $4.75 million signing bonus and 2016 salary of $1.25 million. They owe him no more but he will still count $3,562,500 against their 2017 salary cap because they released him before June, according to figures compiled by Over The Cap.

Should have signed Pryor last season as a hybrid TE. Guy runs like a deer and with three wides on the field would have had a ton of open space over the middle.

Too bad. He was a pretty solid contributor and a decent threat when he was able to play.

I said this before in the facebook group and I'll reiterate it here:

With the number of concussions that he's had, I would not have blamed him in the least for taking whatever money and retiring before taking another shot in the dunce cap and ruining his life after football.
You only need look at some of the issues that Antwaan Randle El is not dealing with post football career to foreshadow how bad those concussions could be for Green.

This may have been the Steelers most merciful move.
If the doctors are saying that he doesn't clear a physical, then hopefully he takes a cue from Greg Warren here and places value on his quality of living after football.

What's going on with Randle El?

Thanks, Cali.  Thumbsup  I suppose there's some degree of physical aftermath that goes along with nearly every sport. More so with football, though. Sorry to hear of his struggles.

It's always sad to see the aftermath of a career in sports. I  had one bad landing playing basketball almost 30 years ago that like Randel-El, causes me to gingerly walk down steps. I can't imagine what these guys that have had multiple injuries are going through.
