For 1 year.  I think this is a mistake but I've never been a Tomlin supporter.  I would have made him prove his coaching ability this year.  Get into the payoffs and make a run and then get an extension.  Prove he can handle a locker room and then get an extension.  Show he has improved in the areas of in game tactics/challenges and then get an extension.

I don't think a playoff run is overly difficult with a HOF QB but, then again, Tomlin has under performed that talent in the past.

1-year is a shocker. Usually at a minimum Steelers coaches are extended for 2-years or more. Is this his last contract?

If the Rooneys will only extend him for a year, they must be getting impatient with his coaching style. Win now or be Gone!

I saw an article on this last night. He currently has 2-years remaining on his contract plus this 1-year extension. Tomlin is now under contract for the next 3-years. His contract now aligns with Ben's and Pouncey's contract. There is a serious push for another Lombardi before Ben and Pouncey retire. This will ensure neither of the aforementioned will have a rookie coach in their last year. That's what the article said anyway.
