I bet the Raiders already regret this deal.

The Oakland Raiders probably regret their investment into Antonio Brown already, given that the team is "planning to suspend" their star wide receiver before the season even begins after he got into some kind of incident/altercation/heated argument with GM Mike Mayock, according to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Per Vic Tafur of The Athletic, Brown had to be "held back by a couple of teammates" when confronting Mayock. It's hard to see a path where he returns to the Raiders any time soon.

Brown was recently fined by the Raiders for missing practice and the team included in the letter to Brown that he was running up against a situation where he could behave in a manner that would qualify as "conduct detrimental to the team."

As I noted on Twitter at the time (and was in the process of writing when this news broke, naturally), the language in that letter could absolutely be a set up to suspend Brown for up to four games and to void the guarantees in his contract.

Read it: Mayock is telling Brown that future behavior could create a situation in which the Raiders use language in their team policy and in the CBA to take action against Brown.

It's all Ben's fault and the damn owner mentality. Damn Ben for wanting to win.

No seriously I think he has severe mental issues emerging from the Burflict hit. I actually thought Burflict had killed him.

Starting to wonder if he'll ever play again.

Reports here in California say he's already suspended... I think he's a mental case.

Cali,

No doubt! A true first class looney.

I think his agent has about $10 million reasons to calm his *ss down. It would be just deserts if our buddy Drew Rosenhaus get’s hit right square in the wallet over this nut case.

John Gruden has had enough of the media today. On all the local stations here in Cali. He was pissed off at the media attention from the "Brown Saga" and the stupid questions asking why he is not at practice...

Welcome to the Steelers world (last year) There will be more of it down the line. Assclowncar riding sideways...

If this had happened in Pittsburgh.....

Tomlin, "Puuuhleeez Antonio, please stop and Daddy will buy you some ice cream."

Tomlin, "Pleeeez Antonio, don't do that again. You like the sprinkles on your ice cream, right? Just stop doing that and we'll get the sprinkles too, OK?"

Tomlin, "Please Antonio, listen to Daddy Player's Coach, OK???? You want to be a good boy, don't you?"

Tomlin, "Give me a Triple Scoop of Tuity-Fruity with extra Sprinkles in a Waffle Cup. Nothing for me."

Today's AB was Created in Pittsburgh.

"Just give me a six-pack and 30 minutes to rest and lets go out and play 'em again!"

Appears he will be suspended if he hasn't already. Dude can't stay off social media. Starting to think he never plays again or is cut and signs with the Cheatriots***.

The issue appears to be stemming from Brown sharing a letter on Instagram that Raiders sent, informing he owed the team more than $53,000 in fines for missing two practices. Brown captioned the photo by saying “when your own team want to hate,” a clear shot at the organization.

Unsurprisingly, Mayock, as old-school as they come, wasn’t happy with that public criticism. It was just a few weeks ago a fed up Mayock called out AB to be “all in or all out” following his helmet grievance, which Brown, to no one’s surprise, lost.

And now, it seems Brown won’t suit up in a Raiders’ uniform for a long time. It seems plausible he never plays a down for Oakland.
Beat reporter Vic Tafur indicates AB is set to be suspended for a long time.

I don't know if I agree.

I'm reexamining my take on this. Honestly, watching how quickly things have unraveled in Oakland, I have to kinda marvel that Tomlin was able to keep it contained as well as he did for as long as he did. I threw in the towel on Tomlin last season, largely based on what I perceived as his mismanagement of AB.

But when somebody is just flat-out bat-shit crazy, that's not the coach's fault. This goes beyond simple "diva" behavior, and the fact that Tomlin was able to manage it and get as much production out of AB as he did can't be dismissed.

This makes me take a big step back to reassess Tomlin. Maybe he has some culpability... but seeing how far gone AB really is, I'm willing to at least consider that Tomlin managed far better than I ever imagined. I'm not so "dug in" on my anti-Tomlin position that I can't consider that I might've been wrong about it.

I guess he called Mayock a "cracker". He should be suspended for racism and hate speech:

If the shoe was on the other foot Mayock would be forced to resign, sell any businesses he had and pretty much be ruined for life.

According to both ESPN and NFL Network, he apologized to the team and all is well again. No further discipline, and he'll play Monday night against Denver.

So, my questions is... will he have to pay the fines, or did he just recieve a $54k reward for his tantrum and subsequent "apology"?  Pi_question_mark Pi_dunno

Antonio Brown posts "Release me" on Instagram

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001...-instagram

There's something very wrong with this guy

I personally love this take on the whole issue:

https://deadspin.com/antonio-brown-and-t...1837903357

This is what we got for him:
66. Pittsburgh Steelers (via trade with Raiders): Diontae Johnson, WR, Toledo

141. Pittsburgh Steelers (via trade with Raiders): Zach Gentry, TE, Michigan

I highly doubt anyone could get that for him now

The guaranteed money was voided, but he's still under contract, week-to-week, whatever that means. AB says he ain't playin' until the money is back....

Meanwhile in Foxboro good ol' Bobby Kraft is reading his jet to fly AB to Florida for a few rub-n-tugs and he'll be lining up across from Gordon in no time.

Julio Jones just signed WR contract in Atlanta ($66m for 3 years).
