Love "Duck Hodges" but this won't hurt as a back up option.
Quote:Steelers offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner has string ties to the Memphis program so it’s understandable that he’d have some interest in Lynch. The Steelers lost staring quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for the rest of the season on Sunday due to an elbow injury and since then Devlin Hodges has been promoted from the practice squad to backup Mason Rudolph moving forward. https://steelersdepot.com/2019/09/report...n-tuesday/

You have to kick the tires, I guess. No harm here.

Quote:The Pittsburgh Steelers want to see what former first-round pick Paxton Lynch still has in the tank. Lynch worked out for the team Tuesday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The Steelers signed Lynch to the practice squad following that workout. read more... https://sports.yahoo.com/steelers-work-o...ml?src=rss Safe move. Anything can change though. Maybe a veteran backup will be signed as an immediate #2 bumping Hodges back on the ps and cutting Lynch or visa verse. |

Only when Rudolph chest bumps him while he is running off the field to the sidelines after throwing a game winning touchdown. ![]() Lynch more than likely is a career backup and Mason is a potential franchise QB, IMO. |

Isn’t it a little early to anoint Rudolph as a franchise QB? No doubt he can be a competent QB, like a (don’t shoot) Neal O’Donnell type, but franchise QB, I’ve not seen those traits yet. We’ll see. |
