The Antonio Brown era has ended in New England.

Brown tweeted an apparent farewell to the Patriots, and Brown has indeed been released, PFT has confirmed.

The experiment lasted 11 day, and it came crashing down quickly. He was sued for sexual assault and rape one day after joining the Patriots. The final straw by all appearances came when he attempted to intimidate a second accuser, who had emerged earlier this week via comments to SI.com.

“Thanks for the opportunity appreciate @Patriots,” Brown tweeted late this afternoon.

Brown will immediately become a free agent, again. It could be that, this time around, he stays that way for a while.

Wasted career, down the tubes. Almost feel bad for the guy. But he has had his share of chances. Probably more.

Who's next, the stains want him?

Hard to feel sorry for a fellow who allows ego and stupidity to get in the way of true talent. The Steelers were fortunate to get a lot of great play from him. That somewhat offset the damage he did at the end.

What is unfortunate is the team did not trade him immediately to the Pats for a #1. That was rumored as a possibility. Had that happened the deal would have been pretty sweet.

Ye reap what you sow..... I’m actually sort of concerned about him. Totally out of control. I fear the next thing we hear about him is he was killed driving down the wrong way on an interstate or some other fate.

Even though he never appeared to be the sharpest knife in the drawer, I still wonder if that Burfict hit caused a permanent brain deficit.

AB is the first player in NFL history to his jersey from three different teams on the clearance rack at the stores at the same time

Just wondering what asshole extraordinaire Shannon Sharpe and the rest of the "nobody ever blames Ben" crowd has to say now? They unfairly trashed Roethlisberger when this whole thing escalated, aligning with AB (largely due to race, IMO) and hypothesizing about all kinds of fictional scenarios in which Ben, not AB, was the problem. It was pure character assassination with no basis in fact.

Have any apologies been issued to Ben?  Pi_blackeye Pi_careless

Agree 100%. Ben will get his well deserved "apologies" when he's inducted into the HOF. The haters and racists will tell their stories but the ultimate prize and respect will go to Ben.

I'm not sure AB will ever achieve that level of recognition. Had he manned up and focused on the team rather than himself his election would have been a near certainty. Maybe he still has a chance to redeem himself. After all the NFL is run by a bunch of "let's give the guy a second, third, etc" chance. For them it seems there is no too great a sin to dampen the talent that they deem valuable and may be available.

Well, I mean BEN made him ride a hot air balloon into training camp in a made-for-HardKnocks Circus Stunt.
.
BEN made the NFL go for different helmets in a racist move under the guide of 'Safety'.

BEN's heavy hand on a thermometer caused poor Big Chesty frostbite on his feet.   Purely racist.   Mr Sharp indicated Ben did not cause any frostbite on any white player.  YOU do the math.

BEN caused the blow up with Chucky and Mike Mayock.  Ben is Lilly white.  Chucky is white, Mayock is white.  Again, YOU do the math.

BEN organized the Patriots move.  You know he did.  He's been playing the black man all along.  Coaches and Owners listen to white quarterbacks.   You don't see Jamis Winston's name on this, do you??

BEN, in league with the Justice Kavanaugh accusers, are setting poor AB up again with false sexual assault allegations.   BEN - secure in his contract, faked some mysteriously-caused elbow injury just to have time off to ruin poor Mr Chesty......

Er...excuse me - I'm over-due for my appointment with another bowl of crack......

I’m all for guaranteed contracts, but apparently AB doesn’t recognize what a binding contract is.

It is absolutely maddening that there is no outrage on the obvious collusion and player tampering that went unmentioned by our watchdog the media over this episode. Do you honestly expect me to believe that AB, as much as a looney tune that he is, forced his release from the Raiders giving up a guaranteed $35 million dollars, without a tacit offer from the Pats in hand? One that miraculously was offered within hours of that severance?

Frankly, I’m glad he’s gone, but until this behavior, tampering with players either directly or through representation (Rosenhaus), the league is a joke. Rosenhaus should be banned for his part in this charade, and the Pats fined significantly including loss of future draft picks.

Tim, all I can say is thank you much for posting the videos from back when the NFL was at least somewhat legitimate.

You're welcome. The rich history of the NFL is the only redeeming thing that remains in today's fucked up league.
