Again, I may be in the minority, but it felt fresher and more energetic than today's overly produced rock concerts, plus it was something unique that gave the show a Miami flavor, much like the Duke Ellington tribute did for New Orleans in Super Bowl IX. I don't think NBC needed any more embarrassment, so it was the correct decision. I've always thought that Gowdy made a bad move going to CBS, he could have stayed at NBC a few more years, maybe doing regional games, but with Criqui coming in, the best he could have gotten would have been at 3 with Len Dawson. |

Enberg/Olsen (best tandem ever in my opinion) calling this game would've been better. I was never really a Curt Gowdy fan. He was okay, but Dick Enberg was just a lot more interesting and fun to listen to in those days. It was when "Oh, my!" was still fresh and new and his level of energy during the game was just so much higher than Gowdy's, but wasn't as "over the top" as Criqui's.
Merlin Olsen... even better in the booth than on the field, and that says a lot. |

Super bowl 12 was when they started to have long halftime shows! I am glad that the Super Bowl 13 halftime show is in this game! I remember when they were playing music on the islands!

I know Terry talked about it in one of his books, though. He felt like the long halftime really cooled them off for the 3rd quarter, plus it was still light when they went into the locker room and it was dark when they came back out. |

Now with two versions! Original broadcast with Gowdy and Brodie, and version with Flemming and Cope dubbed in.

I found the 1978 radio highlights album on YouTube. This one had a few mistakes (like the Steelers shutting out the Niners when the score was 24-7), and only about two-thirds of the games were featured. On the positive side, there's a brief montage of highlights from the seventies at the beginning and some brief clips of Myron Cope's Super Bowl locker room show at the end.
The '79 album (if there was one) hasn't shown up yet, bit I'll be sure to let everyone know if and when it does. |

> Super Bowl XIII Local Pittsburgh Postgame Coverage
A new find! 33 minutes of local Super Bowl postgame coverage featuring Channel 4 Action News highlights with John Steigerwald and Mike Schneider, plus coverage of fan celebrations in and around Pittsburgh. Next, TV2 Eyewitness News coverage features Bill Proctor, John Sanders and Marlynn Singleton (celebrations in Oakland and Lawrenceville), short locker room interviews with Swann, Stallworth, Blount, Dwight White (with champagne in his eyes lol), Jack Lambert (commenting on Thomas Henderson), Joe Greene and Franco. Then back to Channel 4 for a hilarious Myron Cope locker room interview of John Banaszak (who is taking drags off a cigarette while discussing Mike Webster wearing a Terrible Towel), then Cope wearing a "Super Sombrero" and calling the Cowboys the "Dallas Crybabies." Lastly, Dee Thompson with 11 Alive interviewing Franco and Tony Dorsett. |

I only discovered this site about a month ago, I've been watching many games from the 70's, 80's and 90's again. I've been a Stiller fan since the ' 78 AFC Championship game is the 1st football game I have a memory of. Can't believe Curt Gowdey early in SB 13 called it a "dirty towel" lol. Any who I have really enjoyed watching games from before I became a fan and many games from my youth. Steelers 4 Life!!! HERE WE GO!!!!
