First of all, best wishes to Rollers. We've had our difference on football matters, but he seems like a decent guy who stands up for what he believes in whether anyone else agrees on not. Here's hoping your surgery goes well, and we can argue about the Steelers for a long time to come.

Second (and more to the point, at least for now), I've never seen a unit go so utterly and completely to hell as the offense has without Ben. From playcalling to blocking schemes to execution by skill players, it's all fallen apart. Even things Ben would have nothing to do with if he was playing, like Pouncey's ability to snap the ball in the shotgun, have been abysmal. I've seen Rudolph throw the ball deep, so it's not like he doesn't have an arm. The running backs are decent if not great, and the line's the same one that Ben's loved all these years in terms of personnel. It's almost like Fichtner has no idea to call a game without Ben to overrule his calls and do what he thinks best instead. Tomlin needs to tell him to open things up more and trust Mason to at least run basic pass plays instead of this idiotic creep-and-crawl bullshit he seems to have fallen in love with.

I started this post before the last touchdown, so maybe things are looking up after all!

Steelers playing pretty well so far, aside from that awful early gimme score on the bad snap. Defense playing VERY well.

So far, so good. It's still early, but the Steelers look better than I thought they would.

Dammit... great pass play to James Washington... but these young players don't protect the ball. Again.

Smart, alert play by the Rams to punch it out of there. These young guys need to be AWARE. It will come with time, hopefully.

Just wow. Hargrave with the sack/fumble, Minkah Fitzpatrick with another score. Unreal. The guy is a big play machine.

Back-to-back nice plays by Haden. 3 & out. This defense is playing crazy-good right now.

Man, I love seeing the old block numbers. Wish we'd switch back to them permanently.
