Ten Round Draft

Was reading an article on Steeler Depot about Colbert calling for a 10 round draft. At first blush, I’d be ok with it, but only if the control of a player from those extra rounds is limited to a limited evaluation period, not a full league year. This would prevent an FA from going to camp, using a lot of team resources, but at the same looking for a better offer.

In years past the drafts had way more rounds, and there are numerous examples of late round gems. Probably the most notable here is Rocky Bleier who was a 14th round pick.

What about a real taxi squad for these extra picks so these players get some real live experience and put together a nice reel of tape of their skills?

I think for this year it's not a bad idea. I like the extra rounds for the players to have a chance to make a squad but I agree there should be the stipulation you mention. There are always players that don't get drafted that end up making it, although they are few and far between.

Oddly enough the only coach I have heard speak out against the "virtual draft" is Baltimore's own "Hair-Ball". Have you not been reading the news, lame-brain?

A little off topic but I got so bored I ventured into a few Patriot chat-boards(to see what they thought of the Brady exodus) and unbelievably these bird-brains actually think there are countless conspiracies' against their team from the NFL. Never (in my eyes) has an organization so blatantly broken rules and pretty much "skated-scot-free" then them. It was truly mind-blowing.
