Our Third rounder. I looked at his highlights and my impression is from only that, as he played at a small small school playing small schools. While he dominated at that level, as well as holding his own at the all-star games against higher skilled competition ( can anybody say Sutton Smith), he’s looking just a bit light in the britches for the NFL.
If this kid sticks, he will be on the practice squad, if he makes the 53, I doubt he gets a jersey on game day. If he gets jersey, the only way he hits the field will be on special teams. If he’s playing a LB spot on defense, a lot of other LBs got hurt. JMO. |

I don't think he'll ever make the starting roster. Could be wrong. But the level of competition he played at was really sub par. He needs to be bigger and stronger. He'll get stoned by professional tackles in the NFL. Maybe he'll play some special teams though. We'll see. |

Sutton Smith was a lot "lighter in the britches" (6ft 235lbs)!! <- He's on the Seahawks now, btw.. Alex Highsmith checks in at 6'4" 248 lbs (that's ONLY 4 lbs lighter than TJ Watt for those playing the home game)! Admittedly, this pick did leave me scratching my head at the time. We needed depth at LB, but we also needed OL & DL depth and Leki Fotu was sitting there for the taking (instead we FINALLY drafted a traditional Nose Tackle in the 7th with Carlos Davis coming in at 6'2" 320 lbs and putting up some head-turning numbers for a man of his size at the NFL Combine , namely the 4.82 second 40 yard dash). From what I've read and watched in video - the game plan, directly from Colbert and Tomlin, is to have him make the team as a special teams guy and develop him behind Watt and Dupree. If he can make his mark on special teams and replace the role that Chickillo had with us - I call that a success! |

If he I agree, he might be the next Crash Kriewalt....LOL |

This is a draft that has left many a head-scratching. However, you really can't grade it out for 2 or 3 years. The only pick I'd say won't be around is Carlos Davis. Saw him and his twin play and they have white-line fever. Poor pick albeit the 7th round.
Next - Minkah, #39! ![]() |
