I had a little time to kill today so I watched a few (very few) videos of Paxton Lynch while he was at Denver. I'm always an optimist but this dude looked horrible. I'm talking Mark Malone - Kent Graham horrible. Albeit he was getting no help from his O-line he just plain outright looked horrible.
Maybe Matt Canada can work miracles but I'm not holding my breath. ![]() Next - Minkah, #39! ![]() |

I watched a few highlights. Not much else available with my web skill set.
My view is he would be the most athletic QB of those on the roster. Likely has the strongest arm unless Ben's surgery puts him at 100%. Appears to be a willing and capable runner when the pocket breaks down. Can't say much for decision making skills since highlights are just that. Most pre draft articles indicated he has all the physical tools to compete in the NFL. Really can't say that about Duck and maybe Mason. Last year this team had difficulty throwing the ball more than 15 yards down the field. It appears Lynch can get that done even throwing off balance or without properly setting his feet. I believe, given the chance, he may surprise. However, the virus impact on pre season games and practices may make it difficult for him to get that chance. |

There's a reason he's available at the price the steelers got him. He also never played a down last year. I'm assuming you are not placing any hope in him as a starting QB. The fact is we have one starting QB on our roster and that's Ben. The other three will never be a starting QB in this league. Just my opinion but I believe pretty strongly I'm right. |

No reason to argue. Agree he's been a bust. Maybe will continue to be. Bust and maybe are the operative words in those sentences.
I think the team should be less than comfortable with any of the other options if Ben goes down again. Something never clicked for Lynch when he hit the league. He has the physical tools. He did well at the college level. Maybe his issue is between the ears. Maybe it's work ethic but he went in the first round for a lot of reasons. If a coach can find a way to mine that talent bust and maybe could be quickly forgotten. He's an inexpensive candidate. I hope he gets a shot cause I got real tired of watching the offense with Duck and Mason. |

What is to lose at this point keeping him around? He wouldn’t be the first $100 million dollar arm with 50 cents of talent to come down the pike. One point, bust or no bust, it’s looking like the intent is to bolster the running game which it’s success is highly dependent on somebody that can throw the ball more the 15 yards down the field.
The defense will be solid this year, probably better than it’s been in decades. A 45 yard interception is the same as a punt with a good defense. but the deal is, QB play is the only thing that will get the 8th and 9th man out of the box, or prevent them from playing downhill. We had somebody who is a Bronco fan that posted here that said Lynch had two strikes against him when he was drafted. One , Kubiac was the head coach when he was drafted and was fired and secondly, the OL was not all that. New coach was not impressed with either, hired Muchack and changed QB. Paxton more than likely be enjoying the pine IF he indeed make the club, but on the plus side, his situation in Denver was somewhat reminiscent of a certain running back we got from the Rams. Let’s not be in a rush to judgement and see what he brings to the table come trading camp. |

I'm curious what makes you think the defense will be better than it's been in decades? I truly hope you're right, but I don't see it. I'll be shocked (albeit pleasantly) if that's the case. Don't get me wrong, I agree that we'll be solid on defense. But we were the beneficiary of a cornucopia of turnovers last year. #1 in the NFL, in fact. Some of that was aggressive, opportunistic play. But some of it was luck. It's rare to have back-to-back years with uber-high turnover numbers unless you have a defense filled with stars. He definitely had the rug pulled out from under him. He made the Pro Bowl again in year 2 before falling out of favor with his coach, leading to a lackluster year 3. I vividly remember the draft day trade for Bettis. I was literally dancing with glee when I heard the news. It was a match made in heaven. I guess you're just referring to Lynch being blackballed by management? But beyond that, I see no similarities. |

It was a perfect fit in Pitt. Lynch? He'll be gone before the season opens I think |
