[color=rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.88)][color=rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.72)]When Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media on Monday, he announced that former Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier was no longer part of the team.[/color]

[color=rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.72)]Meeting with reporters on Monday, Tomlin confirmed that the injured linebacker has parted ways with the Steelers for now.
“Ryan is not missing because of COVID, Ryan is focused on some transitional things in his life and that’s where his focus is right now and he has my and our full support,” said Tomlin. “I hope that he is going to have some time for us in the future but as he lays the foundation for the rest of his life man, that’s where he’s focusing his energies,” said Tomlin.
Earlier in the offseason, general manager Kevin Colbert indicated as of then Shazier had no defined role with the team but made no announcement about Shazier’s future with or without the team.
Shazier had been placed on the reserve/retired list earlier in the offseason, ending his career with the Steelers as a player. But I think many of us assumed this would simply be a transition into a role as a coach or scout.
