Check it out! The "old TV set" style for game videos is back.:)

Most of you will remember that when we first started hosting old game videos, they would play on an old TV set. As we were chased from one hosting service to the next, we had to ditch the TV set due to formatting issues. It's always bugged me, because I found it more fun to watch the games on the old TV and I find the new layout boring. 

Well, I finally worked out a fix.   So far, all games from 1970-1983 have been updated with the retro look.

I'm going to transition slowly as there are some unknowns, particularly if hosting "targets" may change. If targets change frequently, we'll have to revert back to the "non-TV" style. 

P.S. -- I'm watching this via Firestick on the Silk Browser on my TV right now and it looks f-ing AMAZING. 

P.P.S. -- The Rewind/Fast Forward buttons now work again. You can use these buttons jump ahead or back in 10-second increments.

Is the game not loading properly? It can take a minute or so. Once the spinning circles stops, the images centers and you usually have to push play. Sometimes, games will start playing automatically (they're supposed to every time, but it's inconsistent). 

I find I have to push play more often than not.

Oh.  Yeah, I have the same problem sometimes.   

I'm so used to technical difficulties that I've come to just assume things are going to go wrong.

I've gotta say, it's pretty darn cool on the big screen, too.   This is using the Amazon Silk browser via Firestick. The FF/RW controls still work, too.

IMO, the old school TV graphic is WAY better than empty, black "pillars" on either side of the screen.

 Glad it was helpful, Jules. I'm sure I would be dong the exact same thing in that situation. 

I've definitely watched a lot of them during the pandemic winter. A lot of times, a game is going in the background on TV while I'm doing something else (playing guitar, helping the missus clean the house, working on a basement project). Unlike live games, which get me pretty cranked up, watching the old broadcast relaxes me. 

Weird, I know, but so what?   I do what I want.
