That damn SI cover story jinxed Jack and ended his career. Sad watching him play on one leg that season. They should have sat him the whole year and let him heal.

Too easy for me.

Iron Mike Webster.  This man was pure STEELER.  100% go on every down.  No dances. No prances.  Just knocked people on their ass and asked nothing in return.

Every year I'd ask my doctor to let me play football.  Every year he'd say no.  I wanted to play for one reason, to play center and wear #52.

One picture that I still have in an old Orlando Sentinel newspaper was after the infamous Dolphins-Steelers game from 1989.

You guys know the one.

The Dolphins come out and blow the Steelers out.

Until the rains came.

And then it was all Steelers.

The picture that I have (and I need to dig it up and scan it and post it here) is with Carnell Lake running off with a fumble he picked up with the water and rain around him.

Get it ? His name is lake and the turn around happened in a proverbial lake. And I loved it. As a Bucs fan I hate the Dolphins. Only team I hate. And I mean, really hate. The way you guys feel about the Browns ? Yeah, that is me with the Dolphins x 1000.

(BTW, Dan Marino was overrated, IMO. He passed for a lot of yards but was a bit of a selfish jerk. If he got drafted by the Steelers he would have needed an attitude adjustment. The veterans would have reigned him in. However, in Miami, there was really no one left that garnered the respect that Lambert, Stallworth, Harris, etc.. had. In fact, he probably would have been MORE successful in Pittsburgh than in Miami.)

No one here probably knows this guy.  But he was a great linebacker.  I always liked this guy.

Prior to the merger the Steelers struggled. I mean, REALLY struggled. In fact, despite being the one of the most consistent winners since the merger they are still only 60 games over .500 all time.

They had a BIG hole to climb out of from the 30's - 1969. They only had (1) playoff berth and only a few other years with a winning record.

Sadly, being a good player on a bad team makes one invisible.

Since the merger the Steelers have won 429 games; prior to the merger: 177 (1933-1969). Question is, how do you go about figuring in the Steagles and Card-Pitt records from WW2 ?

You guys remember Huddles ?

Man, as a kid back in the 80's, I loved em'. I had the huddles bedspread but was never able to get any of the individual figures/dolls.

I still have the cards though... (even the Raiders one is adorable, what with the eye patch and stuff)....These guys can go for some serious $$$$$ on Ebay.

You are a brave man, lol.

Going into Oakland as an opposing fan.

That said, it is pretty damn pathetic that people can't wear another teams colors to a visiting teams stadium without worrying about getting assaulted.

I went to the Bucs/Giants game back in 2015 and didn't witness any fights of that sort but I did see plenty of fights between fans of the same team so that tells me that alcohol plays a large part...

Here's the only picture I have of that game. And people wonder why I despise Todd Haley.
