Over Under - Steelers finish under 500

I was just wondering what the consensus of thought was regarding the likelihood of us finishing under .500. I think we have a decent shot. It will take perseverance, talent, planning, and copious amounts of ineptitude, but I haven't lost faith in Tomlin to succeed in this endeavor.
Why attempt a short field goal for 3 when we can turn the ball over on downs... twice... in one game. It's this next level of "stratergery" that Tomlin brings to the table that can't be understated. Couple that with Canada's impressive play calling and I think we're finally going to be able to stop saying, "Tomlin's never finished under .500." This and the potential stud we're going to draft in 2022 are the only silver linings of this season. God bless and Merry Christmas! Seek the Way, the Truth, and the Life!

Good post.
![]() While I'd love to see the Steelers somehow win out (a man can dream), I think it's significantly more likely that they'll lose out. My money, if I was a betting man, would be on a 7-9-1 finish with the lone win coming against Cleveland. Sweeping Cleveland would give me at least a small sense of satisfaction in an otherwise dark and dreary season. Conversely, losing to them would fuel my current distaste for Tomlin to new levels. |

They really haven't given us any reason to believe otherwise. ![]() As much as I’d love to see another win against the Stains, I really don’t see it. If I’m Steffy, I’m watching film of the last game and immediately concluding: “Hey… we gave up on the run way to early…” then, watching film of the Tomlins last few games he's thinking: “Yeah… run the ball… that’s the ticket… these guys can’t stop the run to save their a$$..." Ugh!

If one assumes there's no chance to make the playoffs why would anyone want to see a victory against any of the remaining opponents? This draft can be of significant help rebuilding the team. It's not often they pick in the top third and 6-10-1 might do that.
I think Steeler fans should be rooting for the Bills, Dolphins, Chargers, Raiders, Broncos, Bengals, Browns and Colts to finish strong. It's impossible to predict this number of outcomes but a favorable mix could even land the Steelers in the top third. The last time, I think, they drafted that high they landed Ben. |

I always want the steelers to win. I don't believe in tanking for a higher draft pick. There will be plenty of good O linmen and D linemen in the first three rounds. We'll probably get a fifth compensatory pick and we should be able to get a decent guy there. There will be no QB worth taking with any of our picks next year. We will get alualu back next year and maybe Tuitt depending on what's wrong with him. That fixes the D line right there. We'll see how it goes

I won't cheer for the team to lose. I don't dislike Tomlin that much. However, assuming they don't get to the playoffs their future might be improved with a series of losses.
I plan to watch the games for diversion. I need a lot of that in my life right now. Its another reason I hope Ben plays another year and the draft options move toward DL and OL for the initial rounds. I'd even favor trading back to get another pick in round 2 and 3. They have a lot of holes to fill. I dread the end of both the college and nfl seasons. I haven't watched the pro game for a couple of years. But it's helping to do so now. I guess I'll have to go back to golf when the season ends to fill the void. |

Yeah, I agree, I always want the Steelers to win. I've never been able to wrap my brain around rooting for them to lose in hopes of a better draft pick, which is a crap shoot at best. I understand the logic of it, I guess... but I can't do it. I'd rather win.

I'd bet that we'll finish under 500. Easily 7-9-1 (at best) like Tim predicted.
At the start of this season, I had low expectations, given the losses to free agency/retirement and a completely new O-line. We had a weaker roster than what was in place for the slide at the end of 2020. The Bills game didn’t change my perspective. We were lucky to win that game. The next few games didn’t improve my outlook. Then they rattled off 4 consecutive wins. They weren't dominant, but I started to get my hopes up…Not for a Superbowl, but at least to be competitive. Then Detroit happened. Since Detroit, I think we’ve seen this team for what it is. It is a bad football team in just about every aspect, starting with the coaching staff. They haven’t adopted strategies to the players on the roster. Nor do they seem capable of adjusting to game-time situations. For the first time that I can remember, I’m pretty apathetic about how the Steelers close out the season, kind of like how the team plays for the first 3 quarters of a game. I’ll watch if a game's on TV, but that’s about it. The window has closed on Ben. He doesn’t have the cast around him to succeed, and he's no longer capable of carrying the team. The organization is in denial about rebuilding which will only make the process take longer. I don't feel like next year will be any better. Unfortunately, I think we will be looking up at the rest of the division for a while.

Would like the Steeler's to win. But 2 division games left - and the tits and Chiefs. I think we are lucky to get one game out of this realistically. Don't get me wrong. 3 of these games maybe close.
But the Steelers don't have the o-line or the personel or coach to pull this off. As much as Id like it to be 10-6-1 It will most likely be 7-9-1. What a shitty year. I mean the coaching staff monitored this talent before the year? Mostly the O-Line. This mostly all falls on Tomlin. Art Rooney - We're going to find out what kind of an owner he is after this. The Steelers are in need of a swift change. I would keep Ben for another year or 2.

Infuriating us all, I think Tomlin continues his "non-losing" streak by going 8-8-1 - giving the Rooney's a solid reason to not take any action against him.

One point to consider about Tomlin’s record of not having a losing season that goes un mentioned. Not all of his seasons were wining ones. Pretty much he’s been managing to a “participation trophy” level for the last several years.
This season really reminds me of the 1968 season. In some cases it’s worse. Well, we all know what happens after that season…out of the futility a dynasty was born. Here is to a productive offseason! |

The Steelers and morals are the reason I don't gamble! We're out of first place in the AFC North by .5 of a game. I mean at this point anything is possible I suppose, however, I'm not getting my hopes up, for the playoffs or the draft at this point! Good grief...

I could see us losing to KC but beating the Browns and Ravens.
