Steelers In / Raiders / Chargers? WTH?

Im happy as hell the Steelers made the playoffs and Ben's season is extended for 1 more game.

   But come on man? WTH was that last night?  > Raiders Chargers game >

   My cousin called me and said "Your welcome"  I told him, your team should have played better, rather then to end up in overtime or a tie. Screw this!

  NFL is a freaking " Billion dollar industry " and they still have ties?  Go to College O.T. Rules or > give the kickers 5 kicks from the 55 Yard line to

  settle the dam game.  WTH man!  If that game ended in a tie last night, I would have lost integrity with the NFL.  Just my honest opinion >

I don't love college overtime, but I agree that the NFL needs to change the way they're doing things. The Raiders/Chargers game last night demonstrated how bad the current OT rules are. 

It was dumb luck that it didn't a) end our season, and b) become an eternal symbol of the NFL's loss of integrity. A fluke timeout prevented a PR nightmare that would've lasted for a generation.

Credit the Raiders for going after it. The low-risk, best odds strategy would've been to simply kneel on the ball a few times and settle for the tie, assuring a playoff berth. I think most teams would've done exactly that, and in fact, the Raiders have acknowledged that was their plan prior to the Chargers' surprising time out. 

This is a situation that will certainly come up again, and it's something the NFL can't allow. The OT rules have to be changed/improved during the offseason. 

I don't have any great solutions, but having just witnessed this near disaster, I'd take a variation on the college OT rules over the current NFL rules.

The 1st team that scores in OT wins, period. I don't care if it is a TD, FG, or safety. If the teams don't like it win the game in regulation or play defense in OT. That and go back to 15 minutes OT. Teams now play it safe in OT and play for the FG.

And another thing the NFL should do on last week of the season is flex all the games that have playoff implications to the same time. In other words the Raiders/ Chargers game should have been flexed to the same time as the Steelers/ Rats game.

This way there can be no shanigans to one team colluding with another. The Raiders could have taken a knee at the end of OT. I believe they only played to win to prevent playing the Chiefs at Arrowhead.

You and me both, but 40 year back before instant replay and the constant second guessing of calls. As it is, the way the game rules are adjudicated is more important than the game itself. 

As your the Chargers-Raiders game, where if the game ends in a tie, at the end of regulation, have a shorter overtime period say 50 minutes. If still tied at this point it changes into sudden death without interruption of play making it impossible to end on a tie. I’m ok with giving each team a chance with the ball, , but games should not be able to end in a tie period.

That wouldn't have changed the fact that a tie between those two teams sends them both to the playoffs?
