Features Jack Lambert's famous, "It might be a good idea to put dresses on all of 'em," quote in response to a question about QB safety during a halftime interview with Howard Cosell (referring to Lambert's ejection for a hit on Sipe vs. Cleveland the previous week). LOL. If not for an avalanche of mental errors, this one goes in the books as a "W" for Pittsburgh. Pastorini is razor sharp and the Oilers run extremely well, alternating between Earl Campbell (89 yards, 3 TDs) & Rob Carpenter (42 yards). Swann snags a pair of TDs (plus a 3rd that was nullified by a penalty) and is wide open for the tying TD on 4th and goal in the final seconds of the game, but Bradshaw short-hops it by inches. Randy Grossman also has a HUGE game for Pittsburgh (9 catches for 116 yards), but penalties, a missed kick by Gerela, a dropped TD pass by Stallworth and a pair of errant Bradshaw passes late in the game are a little too much to overcome.

I started watching th Steelers - Oilers 1978 MNF game on the home page. This is truly a great addition and over time I am sure I'll watch my share. It was great seeing the Steeler stars from our childhood days along with the Oilers. In a strange way I guess admire isn't quite the right word but I always respected the Oilers style of play in the late 70's.

Also, watching the Blond Bombers footwork I never remember him being to quick and agile drpping back in the pocket. Terry had a quick drop-back.

It was great seeing the Steeler stars from our childhood days along with the Oilers. I also don't remember how far back Terry would drop.  Dang he had some quick feet and put some miles on with those drops.

I became a die hard fan in 1972.  My brother graduated Penn State that year and knew Jack Ham and Franco real well.  I believe Franco was in his fraternity.  He also was real good friends with Mike Reid - any old heads here remember him?  Went to the Bengals - All-Pro.  He left the NFL early on to pursue a musical career.  Anyway, I digress...

The reason I love to see these games Tim is that I joined the Air Force in 1975 and spent 21 years.  I missed all of the 1977-1999 seasons while overseas.  Chased some down on short wave radio on occasion.  I am really going to enjoy these games as they featured most of the crew I had grown to love so much.  Thanks so much for your commitment to preserving the Legacy!!

Glad you're enjoying the games!!! I've been wanting to share them for years. The NFL just pulls them down on YouTube (and may ultimately find a way to foil my plans here), but for now, enjoy!!!

Man, I'm so glad to share these, Krunch! I can't even tell you. I remember looking for these games pre-internet with very little luck. Once I built my website back in '97... BOOM! Suddenly, I was able to come in contact with all these other people who shared my interest and I amassed quite a collection on VHS. But there was no basically free way (and this still isn't free for me, lol) to share the game with others. But with MP4's... BOOM AGAIN (I sound like Madden)! Now anyone can enjoy them. 

Agree with the other comments on Bradshaw's footwork. The guy was an absolutely incredible athlete.
