Just saw the news. Completely unbelievable. At first I thought it was a terrible joke.

R.I.P., Franco. R.I.P.

The world would be a better place with more Franco Harris.

In 1945, US Army soldier Cad Harris returned from the war with his Italian girl, Gina.  On March 7, 1950, they brought little Franco into the world.  On December 21, 2022, God decided he needed a RB and made his own "Immaculate Reception".

Like Tim, I'm at a loss for words.  Franco meant so much, and ALWAYS had a smile on his face for the fans.  He will be desperately missed.

Is September, the Steelers announced they are to retire Franco Harris' No. 32 jersey during Christmas Eve game against Raiders.  It'll be the 3rd 'officially' retired number after #70 & #75.   It was also the last time I saw him speak:

Franco's Italian Army!

Humble:

"You see, during that era, each player brought their own little piece with them to make that wonderful decade happen," Harris said during his Hall of Fame speech in 1990. "Each player had their strengths and weaknesses, each their own thinking, each their own method, just each, each had their own. But then it was amazing, it all came together, and it stayed together to forge the greatest team of all times."

R.I.P., Franco.

Especially sad timing considering the upcoming 50 anniversary of the IR. He was a very popular player and man about town. He will be missed by many.

Yesterday was a bad day of death for me. I thought all last night in bed about it. 1 close friend and 2 other family friends. then I wake up to Franco gone this morning. Life is so short.

And just before the big game this weekend.

A high school classmate of mine died in her junior year. This was posted in our scroll for her memory. It has stuck with me all these years.

Death be not Proud

Holy Sonnet X

Death, be not proud, though some have called thee

Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;

For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow

Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.

From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,

Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,

And soonest our best men with thee do go,

Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery.

Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,

And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,

And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well

And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then?

One short sleep past, we wake eternally

And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.
