How about your stud Rogers that should be playing all the time? Sure did show up big against 9 in the box and Brown double teamed on that red zone play.... I’m thoroughly amazed he got that wide open. I guess he forgot how to catch. Must be the atrophy that happens sitting on the bench.
I’ll grant you, Haley leaves a lot to be desired, and this game plan totally sucked, but Ben, whew, the dude has seen better days. All I can say is, you’d better get used to fullbacks and us running the ball, a lot. And, as for the point total, Are you seriously going the hold Haley accountable for the three botched red zone plays? One overthrow, one drop, and a OPI call on an obvious flop that would make the soccer world proud? Your hatred knows no bounds. |

Has there been a game since mid season last year where Ben looked *really good*?
With the success of Watson in Houston, Wienz in Philly, Prescott in Dallas..... we may want to start looking at a Josh Rosen or a Clayton Thorson in 2018 |

He was pretty good in 2nd Raven game last year, especially a clutch performance at the end. Other than that, you have a pretty good point.

Now Haley is shoving Nix down our throat running pass patterns at receiver. He hasn't caught a pass in three goddamn years. Nix is a nobody. Bell doesn't need Nix. All he does is clog the line of scrimmage and as a receiver he's useless. Count the number of plays Nix was on the field during each scoring drive. He couldn't make up the ground, he called it a GREAT throw from Ben.

I don't know that I'd say we went "turtle ball" in the 2nd half, but the play calling certainly became bizarre. Deep, low-percentage passes on 3rd and short. A deep pass to Martavis that should've been caught for a huge gain but Bryant didn't look back and locate the ball. Terrell Watson as our running back instead of Bell on 4th and 1. (???!!!) ![]() |

He was supposed to go to the corner, he clearly slows down and he didn't cut to the corner fast enough. It was the same pattern Eli ran on the first drive.

It is obvious that Ben was throwing to a spot, not the receiver.

Okay, I think we've established that Ben isn't perfect.
![]() That said, the question was when is the last time Ben looked "really good?" Again, I'd say 12 of 16 for 193 yds and 2 TDs in the 1st half vs. a division opponent when one of those incompletions was a spike and another was a dropped TD is "really good." ![]() 2 dropped TDs last week, too. Pittsburgh Dad said, "The Steelers act like the end zone is the 'good living room.' They get right up to it 'n they just... stop... and look at all the nice sweeper lines in there." ![]() ![]() |

Ben tends to be much better versus divisional opponents, much better than other divisional and conference opponents. A lack of preparation? Over emphasis on just their divisional opponents?
I have contended for years that since this current CBA started, practice reps are at a premium. Their just are not as many as there were years ago. Since there is little repetition, a lack of polish shows up, at least where the Steelers are concerned. Subjectively, you can see what they have been working on by what looks good during the game. Defensively, this unit is getting the most amount of the practice reps. So far, it looks like offensively, there is a heavy concentration on the running game. The kick off return units obviously are getting the least amount of work and it shows. Keep in mind, from our opponent’s frame of mind, the Steelers are huge games for the rest of the league. Really, does a team in the NFC give a rip when the Browns come to town? Not hardly, but they will come out guns blazing for the Steelers. |

The first year of the new CBA when Ben had a real OC the Steelers won 12 games, and he was the best QB in the AFC before that H.A.S against the Browns happened.

My compulsion is winning.
I wish it were Art II's. Mike Tomlin, who never wanted Haley once said "Style points don't matter". I guess Art II forgot that memo. Lesson here? Don't hire college golfers to run an NFL offense just because his Daddy worked for the Chief. That way you won't have 330 pound offensive tackles lined up at WR, and the best WR in football on the bench on 4th down in overtime against your biggest rival. |

You're doing the impossible, Crash; you're making me feel sorry for Todd Haley. No matter what he is or isn't, he doesn't deserve the abuse you give him, and neither does Art, whom you would have us believe knows and cares nothing about football, only about being loyal to the Haley family. Not only CAN I not believe that, I WILL NOT believe it. He's been taught better by his father and grandfather. And I guess Colbert and Tomlin are complete nonentities, that the power flows directly from Art down to Haley. If that's so, why haven't we seen and heard more from him publically?
If you've got a grudge against him that's not related to the Steelers, tell us about it. Other than that, your rants are getting further off-track and more bizarre as time goes on, and they need to stop.

Quote:He's been taught better by his father and grandfather. Art II is NOTHING like his father and grandfather. Dan and the Chief were known as good people who treated people with respect. Art II is seen as aloof, by even members of his own family. And there are stories of his less than friendly interactions with fans over the years. It's just not his nature. And that's fine. It doesn't have to be. But a good owner sits back and OWNS, and allows his hired football people to do their jobs as THEY see fit. You think Bob Kraft would ever tell Tom Brady how to play his position? Hell no, Kraft just sits in his owners box and gets smashed, while his hired football people do their jobs. Quote:And I guess Colbert and Tomlin are complete nonentities, that the power flows directly from Art down to Haley. If that's so, why haven't we seen and heard more from him publically? Art II went over Tomlin's head and fired Arians. He made Tomlin look like a complete fool in front of his own players and his own staff when MT stated he wanted, and expected Arians to return. Only to see Art II pull rank on him weeks later only AFTER Arians left for his off season home. Art II does his radio tours after the season. In which he states areas which he feels the team needs to improve on. My favorite was when he said the DB's needed to be more "ball aware" to improve their interception totals, never mind the fact that they were playing "tackle the catch" and really weren't playing an interception type man to man system unless a pass was tipped or an occasional deep/poor throw. When you hear him speak about the in's and out's of the game you can tell right off the bat that he knows little about the game itself. My only grudges with Art II is that he shouldn't have fired Arians to hire his unqualified buddy, and he also doesn't publicly back his players when Roger Goodell or the media shits all over them. Dan didn't kiss Goodell's ass. When refs made bad calls? Dan would say so and pay the fine. Their are plenty of stories of heated exchanges between Dan and Goodell when they were in public places (usually dinner) together to the point their wives would leave the table. Art II just seems content to sit back because his father gave him 15% of the team in 2009. This team was one more AFC title away from being called a dynasty in the Ben Era, and Art II went against the Steelers own past history of WHY they have been successful (or not) since 1990. And Ben's prime paid the price. Tomlin wanted to promote Kirby Wilson, but when that fire happened they weren't sure if he was going to live, much less coach. The offensive leaders (Ben, Pouncey, Miller), all lobbied for QB Coach Randy Fichtner in a meeting with Art II. Art overruled them all and hired Haley. Of the three situations the guy with the LEAST amount of football background made the final decision. And now we see what has happened since, haven't we? Haley is a complete loon. Don't believe me? Go read up on him. He's trying to relive his failed football dreams through the careers of the players he coaches. But guess what? When his grade school bullshit and self-promotion becomes the focal point over just winning games? Players don't respect you. That's why he has very few friends in the NFL, it's why players don't respect him, it's why the Cardinal assistant coaches, to a man on Ken Whisenhunt's staff, let it be known they wanted nothing to do with him when the Bidwell's wanted to bring him back as an assistant BEFORE we hired him. The simple facts are this: Haley's offense has stunk since 2014. It's not consistent enough. It doesn't score enough. The passing game is easy to defend. The grade school BS formations don't fool anyone. And if Art II REALLY cared about winning, REALLY cared about the HOF QB who led this team to three Super Bowls in 8 years? He would either fire this dope, or at least not allow him to call plays and set formations. Ben can't stand him, Brown REALLY can't stand him (Their dust-up in Seattle was so heated that Tomlin had to restrain Haley), and Jesse James called him out after the Jaguars game. This team has million dollar talents on offense, but the OC has a ten cent brain. The lack of results on the field do all my talking for me. This team only has two choices: 1. Fire or demote this dope and forbid him to set formations and call plays. 2. ORDER HIM to stop the cute bullshit that doesn't work. This team has almost 2 weeks before their next game, there are no more excuses, this bye week should have Haley (who has a reputation among the players of being a slacker) working to get the best three wides on this team (84-10-19) on the field together, the arguably the best RB in the game, and a HOF QB to be a crisp, precise, fully functional offense. No more tricks, no more linemen running pass patterns, no more fullbacks with cement hands running post patterns lined up wide, or running slants from the slot. No more trying to sneak a scrub on the field and let everyone know he's getting the football. Leave the back-up scrubs on the bench where they belong, and leave the TALENT on the field where they belong. Stop wasting too many plays trying to be cute and showing everyone how clever you are. They have 8 games left. Five of the eight are at home. They should finish NO WORSE, than 12-4. But as always it comes down to one thing: Will Haley do whats best for this TEAM? Or will he try and do what's best for HIM? I guess we'll find out. But the past 5 years isn't a good sign, moving on in the future. |

But wait, there's more: “Bruce did a good job for us and we appreciate everything he’s done,” Rooney said. “I think the questions of how we got here are not really relevant. I think the key now is Mike has begun the search for our next offensive coordinator and I think he’ll do a good job finding the right person. We’ll go through the process and interview the right candidates. But we’re looking to improve on offense and have somebody possibly to be in place for a number of years. Bruce had talked about retirement for a few years now, so I think it was time for a change, and we’re looking forward to moving on.” http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/201...-a-change/ But that's not all: That interview on the TEAMS website, was AFTER he spoke on KDKA TV. He agreed to that KDKA interview with ONE stipulation: NO QUESTIONS on WHO fired Arians. If Art II didn't do it, why the stipulation? Tomlin wants nothing to do with Haley. Haley was "forced" on him the same way Dan Rooney "forced" Bill Cowher to draft Ben back in 2004.

Tomin could have quit, you know. Other coaches have quit rather that take on staff they didn't want. Then again, according to you Tomlin's a piece of spineless cheese who doesn't really run the team anyway.
As far as Stan goes, I'll believe him any time over someone like you, regardless of which shows he hosts where. He's one of the best sports journalists this town has ever known, while you're just a fan with a nice stash of games Tim wants to upload. That gets you nowhere with me; this isn't my site. |

Yeah Stan also claimed Jaromir Jagr was on his cell phone at intermission of the 2001 East Semi's game 7 before overtime.
Then someone asked Marc Bergevin about it, and he laughed at him. Stan also tried to tell me that Ben is BETTER with Haley than Arians because of "stats". Which totally kills his argument. Tomlin should have quit. He would have gotten another job in 5 minutes. Noll almost quit for the same type of reason after 1988 over Tony Dungy. All Haley has done is ruined Tomlin and Ben's legacies. While the rest of the NFL sits there and laughs. |

The Steelers are currently 6-2, tied for the best record in the AFC. We'd be the #1 seed if the playoffs started today. 2 games up on the Ravens for the AFC North.
We got the #4 passer (yrds), #2 runner ( -3 yrds behind Hunt), the #1 receiver (+208 yrds) - The leagues #4 defense (overall), and the #2 team against the pass. We very realistically can go 7-1 over the rest of the regular season (IND, TEN, GB, CIN, BAL, NE (at home), HOU, CLE) It's not *all* doom and gloom ![]() |

FACT: Tomlin is still one of the most widely respected coaches in the league, even with Todd Haley on his staff.
FACT: Big Ben is at the top of the second level of NFL quarterbacks, which isn't bad when you consider that the first level is, by consensus, Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady. One more Super Bowl makes him an automatic first-ballot Hall of Famer, and he may get that Super Bowl even WITH Haley. In fact, I say he will. FACT: You don't just quit NFL jobs at the drop of a hat. Noll demoted Dungy as Dan ordered, and Tomlin hired Haley as Art II ordered. Why? Because they each liked being the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, one of the NFL's elite franchises. FACT: No matter how many facts you present, your personal non-football grudge against Haley is showing. I can't order you to drop it because I'm not a mod, but you're rapidly becoming a joke because of it. Consider this a word to the wise. |

Because they each liked being the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, one of the NFL's elite franchises. After being the NFL's joke for 40 years? After Noll (with an assist from Bill Nunn) changed the entire culture of one of the worst run teams in professional sports? I don't think Dan Rooney should have ordered Noll to do anything. Noll wasn't hired by an elite franchise. NOLL was who made that franchise elite. To blame Dungy for that defense in 1988 was simply a bad call. That defense was ruined by injuries in the secondary (Headlining was Delton Hall's wrist injury that pretty much ended his career at 27, he was on the NFL's All Rookie Team in 1987), pass rusher Keith Willis was lost for the year to a neck injury and OLB Mike Merriweather was a season long holdout. Merriweather's eventual successor was Greg Lloyd, who missed half that season also coming back from his 1987 knee injury. What did Dan expect? 1976 Part II? Quote:One more Super Bowl makes him an automatic first-ballot Hall of Famer, and he may get that Super Bowl even WITH Haley. In fact, I say he will. History shows that Ben is already a Hall of Fame QB. EVERY eligible QB, who has started at least three SB's, regardless of SB record, is in Canton. The ONLY holdout was Kurt Warner, and he was just voted in. Ben's had a better career than Warner. So he should be a first ballot HOF QB also. The ONLY way Ben, and Haley get to a SB together is if Mike Tomlin grows a set and ORDERS Haley to cut out the high school bullshit and lets the TALENT be the focal point on offense. Quote:FACT: No matter how many facts you present, your personal non-football grudge against Haley is showing. Actually my personal FOOTBALL related grudge I have against Haley is even worse. Everyone knew before we hired him that he was a loon. But he can't help that. Loons are people too. His offensive system stinks. He's too busy rotating guys in and out of the lineup. That disrupts the offense more than anything. This practice has gotten worse since he regained his full power after Kirby Wilson left after 2013. I'm sorry, but when you take the NFL's best WR (And arguably a top 5 player in the NFL period) out of the game on the biggest 3rd down of your season (Right after LeVeon Bell was injured) to call a play for a scrub fullback's lone snap of the half against your biggest rival? That's idiocy. When you go to Denver, playing without Brown, Bell, and DeAngelo Williams? And you have 4th and 3 and you then take Martavis Bryant off the field to run a gimmick formation for your 4th team tight end to come out of the backfield when he has one catch for three yards in the previous month? That's embarrassing. The guy simply isn't qualified to run his junk system on an NFL team. It's getting WORSE. Not better. He looks completely out of his league. His situational aspect of the game is shit, his attention to detail is even worse. And the results on the field reflect that. All this alleged talent, and Haley's more worried about WHO gets credit instead of just winning games. So we all suffer.
