1997 Steelers 20 at Eagles 23

The struggling Eagles surprise the Steelers as QB Bobby Hoying, making just his second NFL start, fires two TD passes in the first 10 minutes. This is an ugly game filled with miscues & bad officiating. Stewart's impressive 2nd half numbers aren't quite enough to overcome his dismal 4-of-14, 37 yard first half performance.

Opening discussion, find out Bettis is playing through a broken rib. 99 yards from scrimmage nevertheless.

This would be Greg Lloyd's last game in a Pittsburgh Steelers uniform. The staph infection caused him to the rest of the season including the playoffs.

Didn't realize this was Lloyd's last game as a Steeler. Very sad day indeed.

To my surprise, there's still a remnant of the very EARLY days of this site over on Tripod. It's from 1998, and it's my "tribute" to Greg Lloyd, along with fan comments. This was pre-message board era on the internet, so comments were emailed to me and I manually posted them within the page. Laugh Pretty funny, because it's been so long that even message boards are largely a thing of the past now.

Tribute to Greg Lloyd (circa 1998)

Totally shocked that it's still there after 22 years!
