Pittsburgh 24 - Cincy 21

Changed my mind.  However I just saw a story today that said the Steelers are practicing tackling.  How about that????  After 11 games they're going to learn how to tackle.  I hope they learn how to cover someone in the secondary

30-17 us if Nix has less than 10 snaps.

10+ we'll be lucky to score 20.

You are what you practice. You do raise a valid point as it’s kind of one of the basic elements of the game.

It’s pretty telling when the best tackle of the year is turned in by your tight end running 80 yard upfield to make a play on a returned blocked field goal...lol

31-28 Stillers.

34 to 33 Steelers. Another Burp-afect helps us in penalty's with the final kick at the end...

Bungles 20 - Pitt 18. 0 touchdowns. 4 picks. LB held to under 50 yards as the Steelers abandon the run in the 2nd half.

6 FG's by Boswell, missing the 7th - and possible game winner after a last second pick of Dalton.

The Steelers haven't lost a game at Paul Brown Stadium since Jon Kitna shocked us in overtime in 2001 after Kordell Stewart threw 4 picks.

Last time I checked, Stewart and Kitna aren't playing. Plus, this game is in prime time. Therefore...

Steelers 34, Bengals 17.

That 2001 game is the only loss on Cowher's resume when they quote the 108-1-1 record when leading by more than 10. The tie was in 02 va Atl. Both games Bettis was hurt and didn't have a have a carry.

Pretty close prediction Rollers. And apparently, STILL can’t cover much in the secondary, and tackling is still below the line, but we got the win.... again.

#Steelers are averaging 30 points a game over their past three games.

Roosevelt Nix has only played 15 snaps in 12 quarters.

See?

It not always about how many points you can score. As a defensive stopper in basketball, if If can keep a 20ppg player to 14-15ppg, that means my scorers don”t have to score as much. It takes the pressure off so they can execute.

The deal with Nix and the power running game is it is a tool to shrink the clock to reduce the amount of timeout opponents have to score. Mark my words, we are going to need this vs the Patriots.

BTW, as you suggested, I dug up the clip of Hawkins out on a pass pattern. Say what you want, but the dude was wide open and the big thumper,  Ilukia was pulled out of his fit. It worked.

What is funny is, one of these times that idiot Haley is going to have Ben throw the ball that way. Can you imaging if it connects?

Worked?  It's embarrassing.

I wish Ben would throw them the ball.  Only way Toddy's going to ever be called out for his idiocy is to show everyone it exists.

Bell doesn't need Nix to run the ball well.  Bell was a star without Nix.

Nix is a ham in egger.  The more he plays the worse the offense looks.

I beg to differ, when opponents have 7-8 in the box, Bell needs Nix.

When we get a WR or TE option other than AB, that is actually something a defensive coordinator might be concerned about, we will not need Nix. Wake me up when we do.

If we would target the TE we have someone would have to cover him. He can catch the ball and has proven that time after time when given the chance. He could be running down the field wide open with no one 20 yards near him and Ben will still force the ball into double coverage to AB. Grimble? A joke. Yet he sees the field for the first few plays in that game in Cincy. Nix in the backfield? We're running the ball. easy. I don't even know why we bother with a tight end. Dude is over 6'5" and has been reliable and Tomlin says he's not "varsity" enough. Goes and get McDonald that could'nt catch a cold. I can't explain it but get the ball to James and someone will have to cover him. Not that hard

James is not a good blocker, that is the problem. I do agree he's serviceable and the best of the bunch, but the bar is low.

I liked the check downs to Bell out of the back-field.

The key however is "no-huddle". This accomplished a few important things:

1.) It keeps Haley out of the way (HUGE).

2.) If we have favorable match-ups it prevents the defense from substituting, hence they get winded.

If it were me I'd allow Ben to run the "No Huddle" at his discretion.

Not only is Jessie James not a "good" blocker... he downright SUCKS as a blocker. His blocks look like Harry and Lloyd high-fiving over the mini-bike in "Dumb and Dumber." WHIFF!

There was a screen to Bell vs. Cinic that really stands out in my mind. If James simply makes contact with the guy he's supposed to block, he'll actually take out 2 guys and the play will go for a nice gain. Instead, he completely whiffs the guy, then turns and watches Bell get tackled after a minimal gain.

Swing and a miss!

He's terrible. Not great hands either, but it's his poor blocking that really hurts us.

Agreed, there was a game earlier in the year I commented on another thread and he had the defender dead in his sights and he completely missed him. He is either a pussy in the mold of Dion Sanders (hates contact) or he needs glasses. Bell got planted on the play.

The blocked FG against the Bears Grimble made no effort to block down. Even if had had taken a side step we probably wouldn't have lost that game.

Saying James is the best TE of the group is like saying Joy Behar is the best looking between her, Whoopi Goldberg, and Rosie O"Donnell.

Our TE group is pretty bad and it needs addressed in the draft DAY 1!!!

He also runs like a girl. No power at all. It’s the strangest gait, like there is something up his keester keeping him from a full stride.
