I don't think we reached.
Yeah, Reuben Foster was available, but there you're risking another guy with character and possible substance abuse issues.

Lots of mocks had T.J. going higher, but I think we took him right about where he deserved to go.
He also ranked 4th on among Edge Rushers on the SPARQ rating.
Solid pick and now hopefully we can find an upgrade to Mike Mitchell in the 2nd or 3rd  Pi_bigsmile Smokin

I dunno. I don't think we reached. Tough guy, high character. This guys oozes Pittsburgh Steelers LB and I expect he will be a fan favorite. I'll be surprised if he isn't a starter and solid contributor fairly quickly.

Yeah, I woke up this morning feeling really great about this pick. I didn't see it coming ...

“Everybody knows me as J.J. Watt’s younger brother, but people don’t know the little things that I do, the work ethic, the countless hours of film, getting the right amount of sleep, treating myself like a professional athlete while I was still in college,” said Watt. “I learned so much from J.J. and have been able to translate that to myself. I don’t think people know who I am at this point because I have been in such a big shadow. That is why I can’t wait to come to Pittsburgh and be my own person.”

That's a high character kid right there ... and he's exactly what the team needed ... he'll make eveybody around him better the way I'm seeing this !!!

Big Grin Super Bowl or Bust !!! ... (I'm guessing "Bust") ... but hey ...

Sounds exactly like what we were looking for. As they said over at STDT, he checked all the boxes. As far as him being a plug and play draftee, who knows at this point, but I guarantee he sees a lot more playing time than Harrison did in his early years.

Safeties and Corners FLYING off the boards ... Steelers will likely have to draft one right now ... especially to get one worth a hoot

I have that sinking feeling that we have yet another year of ignoring the anemic Defensive Backfield, unless there is an off the radar pick remaining that the FO and Tomlin have in mind. If not Brady will be laughing out loud.

Looks like another year sitting on our thumbs using "hope" for a strategy. Samuel and Obi picks hurt. Not much left for secondary help now, looks like we go into the season with this stellar group of CBS: Gay, Burns, Sensabaugh, and Cockrell. Seems like I am forgetting someone.

Brady is licking his chops,.

We reached in the 1st for a fan-favorite, blue collar, Steeler mentality player. I think he could have been had in the 2nd. A few mocks I saw had him as a 3rd rounder.

R-E-A-C-H

Not saying he won't be productive, but he wouldn't have been my choice.

WTF - A Receiver?

JuJu Smith-Schuster | WR, Southern California
Height: 6-1 Weight: 215
Was this an overwhelming need? He´s a good player who has to watch his weight.

I think it is the standard, is the standard.

Good enough is good enough continues to reign with Tomlin and the FO.

Our Defensive Backfileld NEEDED to be priority #1 and it is apparently just an afterthought.

We could have done worse in the 2nd.

With all of the elite CBs and Safeties off the board, Tomlin and company give Big Ben another weapon and an insurance policy to Martavis Bryant.

ok  not buying it.  why not try and move up a little and get a good cb or safety.  This makes no sense.  Why not Godwin?  Faster bigger impact player.  I will never understand this pic.  He would have been there round 3

"JuJu Smith-Schuster"  Cute name. Looking forward to seeing more of this young fellow and seeing where he might fit in.

Yeah, can't say that I'm thrilled about this one either.
Steelers could have traded for the Giants spot and gotten Obi Melifonwu.
Smith-Schuster's highlight reel is fun to watch, but with so much saturation of talent at WR, I don't get picking that position THIS early.
Maybe they're setting up to trade a WR for a defensive back?  Not likely though...
