Joe Haden will practice this week with hopes of facing the Patriots on Sunday, Mike Tomlin told reporters on Tuesday.

Haden hasn't practiced and has missed Pittsburgh's past four games since suffering a fibula injury in the team's Week 10 victory over Indianapolis. Tomlin said that the quality of Haden's participation this week will determine his status for Sunday's game.

Signed just before the start of the 2017 season, Haden made an immediate impact on Pittsburgh's defense, as the Steelers among the NFL's top pass defenses during the first 10 games of the season. The pass defense has struggled without Haden, with Coty Sensabaugh lacking consistency in relief of Haden over the past month. Pittsburgh's secondary has been bolstered by rookie Cam Sutton, who made significant contributions to Pittsburgh's defense since entering the lineup over the last two games.
